Characteristics and Measures for Mobile-Masquerader Detection
2006
Personal mobile devices, as mobile phones, smartphones, and communicators can be easily lost or stolen. Due to the functional abilities of these devices, their use by an unintended person may result in a severe security incident concerning private or corporate data and services. Organizations develop their security policy and mobilize preventive techniques against unauthorized use. Current solutions, however, are still breakable and there still exists strong need for means to detect user substitution when it happens. A crucial issue in designing such means is to define what measures to monitor.
Fatigue and Depressive Symptoms in Older People
2014
Fatigue is considered an important indicator of aging-related declines in health and functional abilities. Previous studies have indicated strong associations between fatigue and depressive symptoms among younger populations and in patient groups with specific diseases. However, it is not known how different measures of fatigue are associated with depressive symptoms among general older populations. The purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of depressive symptoms among community-dwelling older adults reporting mobility-related or general feelings fatigue. The study population consisted of 75-year-old community-living individuals ( n = 561). Both, mobility-related and general …
Well-being and functional abilities in nursing home and home living seniors in Latvia
2018
The society in developed countries is aging. 1.5% of seniors live in nursing homes in Latvia.Aim: to compare functional abilities and well-being between nursing home and home living Latvian seniors.Methods:280 home living seniors and 285 from nursing homes, age ≥ 65 years able to respond to questions and stand up were included in the study based on availability. They were asked to describe their well-being from very bad to very good. The functional abilities were assessed by hand grip strength, the ability to stand up without assistance, the dependence on caregivers (1 – independent, 2 – partly dependent, 3 – fully dependent), the use of walking device assistance devices. Results:The home li…
The impact of multilevel surgery on functional abilities and participation in adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP)
2013
but not significant decrease in RT group. Timing of pKFSw, range of knee flexion and knee flexion velocity improved after surgery but tended to deteriorate over the years in either group. Discussionandconclusions:The results of thepresent study for the first time suggest that the influences of proximal RF release on DRFT effects on the knee joint are negligible. Two possible explanations shouldbe considered. First, thefindingsmaybe explainedby a permanent eliminationofRF functionon thekneeafterDRFT,which would be unaffected by proximal release and would underline the efficiency of DRFT. Secondly, surgery in the proximal part does not influence the distal part. This would represent a new imp…
